How We Make Personalised Cake Toppers in the UK

Your design, wording and colour choices become the instructions for a topper made to order in the UK. Edition Works designs and produces toppers in our London studio. Here is how those choices come together, what you need to provide and what arrives with your order.

1. Choose a design and give us the wording

Start with a design that suits the occasion. On a personalised product, follow the instructions beside the personalisation box: they explain whether to enter a name, age, date or other wording.

For example, our first-birthday name topper needs the child’s name. The any-age birthday topper allows an age and optional name. Fixed-wording designs such as On Cloud 9 do not need personalisation.

Check names, numbers and dates before submitting the order. The details you supply are the reference for the finished design. If you want a different layout or wording from the listed options, discuss a custom order with us first.

2. Select the material and colour

Our cake toppers use 350gsm glitter or mirror card specially made for Edition Works toppers. Our low-shed glitter card uses real glitter, giving it a textured surface that catches the light, rather than a glitter-look foil effect. Our mirror card has a smooth, reflective finish. We prepare your order using the selected available colour and finish.

Most glitter colours are double-sided; Lime and Champagne glitter are currently single-sided. Mirror card is single-sided. 3. Prepare the personalised design

The name or age is prepared within the chosen design. A short name and a long name naturally occupy space differently, so the arrangement needs to work with the outline and remain readable.

The width is stated on the individual product page. Many designs are approximately 5.5 inches wide, while some differ. If you need a particular height or width, ask before ordering; a checkout note alone does not confirm a bespoke change. Use our size guide to check the cake’s available space.

4. Produce, check and pack the topper

The design is cut from the selected card for your order. Before dispatch, the finished topper is checked against the order details, including wording, colour and finish, then packed for delivery.

5. Assemble it for your cake

The topper is supplied unmounted, with bamboo sticks and glue dots. This lets you choose the support position and display height. Assemble securely before use, following the supplied information.

Only the bamboo sticks should enter the cake. Keep decorative card and adhesive away from direct food contact. Remove the topper before serving, keep it away from candles and flames, and keep it out of children’s reach. Store flat and dry if you want to keep it afterwards.
